Story:
Arizona brings some of the most beautiful monsoons in the United States. During one stormy evening visiting my relatives this little "scene" popped into my head. Grabbing some cowboy hats, throwing them on my little cousins, and having them sit out in their backyard I took three exposures from this angle. By the third time, I finally captured a subtle lightning strike off in the distance. To continue with my "no frills" shooting style, I just used the floodlight from the garage to light the foreground.
Technologies:
35mm, 10 second exposure
Project:
Part of a series of travel posters, calendars, stock photography, and other fine-art products.
Challenge:
Having the kids sit still long enough for a sharp image during a long exposure while waiting for lightning to strike.
